Dennis Ferguson founded “Fishing Rodeo for Kids” in 1991. It has grown from 61 to 300+ participants in the past twenty three years. Fishing has always been a big part of Dennis’ life. “I loved fishing when I was a little boy. I always enjoyed the quiet moments with my dad and uncle, Bill Chitwood. As we are getting older, I cherish each of those memories,” said Dennis.
The mission of “Fishing Rodeo for Kids” is to allow children and their families a care-free day to spend quality time together. Dennis and his friends served over 500 hotdogs this year. They also gave a shirt and hat to each child that attended the event.
Dennis lives in Midtown and is an active member of the community. Dennis, served 9 terms, making him the longest serving State Representative from Roane County. Dennis is the current Roane County Road Superintendent. He is a member of Piney Grove Baptist in Midtown. Dennis is also a member of the Union Lodge #38, Knoxville Scottish Rite, and a member of Kerbela Shrine Temple. Dennis also started and continues the "Dennis Ferguson's Coats for the Cold," which provides coats to those in need, regardless of age.
